This week’s blog is going to be short and blunt.

Here’s why.

I am fucking overwhelmed right now.

Yep, I’m a mindset coach and should be all calm and collected and in control all the time, right? I should be showing you how easy life is and demonstrate being happy and never having problems and everything just magically manifesting in my lap, right? I should have this shit sorted, right?

Well my friends, the answer is a clear, “fuck no”.

Emily Chadbourne Mindset Coach Melbourne #unashamedlyhuman

I am human.

Before everything else, I am human. I am messy and scrappy and emotional and hormonal, and I am learning how to be a better version of me all the time. But inherent in the learning process, is getting it wrong.

So, this week I got it a bit wrong.

I didn’t put in clear boundaries with others. I said yes when I meant no. I laughed in the face of time and it punched me back in the tits. Both of them. Hard. And then tweaked a nipple. It does not feel good.

So why am I even bothering to write this blog if I’ve got so much on? Surely not posting a written blog one week wouldn’t hurt?

Well 50 weeks ago, I made a promise to myself that I would publish a blog, every Tuesday for an entire year. I only have 2 left to go. Here were some of the reasons I made this promise to blog weekly for a year.

  1. Get ready to write my book (give myself the identity of a writer by actually writing).
  2. To serve you guys, my dear readers (and, full disclosure to market my services to you too).
  3. Learn the discipline of writing, even when I don’t want to, even when I’m not inspired, even when I don’t have time – because if I can’t do this how will I ever get my book written?
  4. To try to live out my early 20’s fantasy of being Carrie Bradshaw. Side note; didn’t happen because her life is fictional and mine is full-on and real.
  5. To build trust with myself.

So, for 4 out of 5 of these reasons, I had to write this blog this week. Amongst all the noise and packing (heading to Europe for a month) and running free courses and managing clients and online communities and meetings and life, writing this blog wasn’t just a “to-do” on my list.

It represents my integrity with myself.

It represents me backing myself.

It represents me showing up for myself.

And that, I promise to always demonstrate.

That is what makes me a solid mindset coach and capable of making shit happen, even when I’m overwhelmed and learning and getting it wrong.

That is how I get back up when I fall.

That is how I show up for my clients and my mates and my family.

That is how I demonstrate #unashamedlyhuman.

It has nothing to do with getting it right and everything to do with giving yourself permission to try, within a firm boundary of self-love, self-respect and self-worth.

If you want to know more about that and how I help my clients achieve the same, here’s how you can get involved.
